Play. Sort. Pattern.
Audiences delight in this participatory installation of plastic lids.
Initially commissioned as a creative play space by the City of Cockburn, we were keen to create a pile of recycled materials. Very quickly, we were playing with plastic lids - an often “tricky to recycle” material.
We collect thousands of bottle tops from volunteer recycling groups and recycling centres, and then return them back into the system, (having removed mis-sorted items!) to be made into new plastic materials.
Gently facilitated by 2 performers, the pile transforms into small 1:1 to large collaborative moments be it snow angels, mandalas, puck puck, tower competitions, making faces, flowers and more. This is a truly an audience-led participatory work - providing play in all its forms: meditative, to creative to joyful.
